DevOps: creating an “Agile on Steroids” culture by Stefano La Porta

clip_image002DevOps (a word born from the combination of Development and Operations) has become a buzzword in the software development industry. DevOps is everywhere, and everyone talks about it. Unfortunately, nobody agrees on what DevOps means and a clear-cut definition doesn’t exist.

Some people believe that since they are adopting an Agile methodology they are already doing DevOps. Is it another term for Continuous Delivery? Is maybe DevOps all about Continuous Testing? Some practitioners believe that speaking about DevOps means speaking about Infrastructure as Code. Others maintain that it is something that you can do exclusively in the cloud.

First of all, DevOps is not something that “you do”. It is much more than this. DevOps is a new culture based on Agile principles (I like to use the expression “Agile on Steroids”) that embraces all of these processes and practices. Read the complete article here.
